Using Supervision to Explore Racism in Education
This one day in person training at Engineer’s House, Clifton, Bristol on 21 January 2027 is offered by two experienced Supervisors and Trainers. This training is for Supervisors working in the education sector. Providing CPD to deepen awareness of racism in schools and how supervision can help engage in promoting anti racist practise.
Racism is recognised as a safeguarding issue that affects schools. This day provides space for Supervisors to reflect on and strengthen their awareness of racism within supervision, and to develop more proactive approaches to recognising, exploring and challenging racism at both systemic and interpersonal levels. It will provide an opportunity to reimagine the ways we think, identify, and address racism.
Learning Outcomes
1. Building awareness of the impact of racism in schools on:
- children and young people
- staff
- schools
- local communities
2. Develop an understanding of your own identity and how that impacts on supervision
3. Learning how to shape supervision differently with this knowledge and awareness
Your facilitators
The training will be lead by Penny Sturt and Kemi Omijeh who are both Associates of Talking Heads Supervision and begun collaborating on this subject when they developed a day for Talking Heads Associates. They continue to work separately and together raising awareness around racism and how to use supervision to disrupt it.
